According to media reports, the central government has once again made up its mind to extend this biggest scheme of distributing free ration by six month (by march 2023). This has also been indicated by the secretary of the cental Food Department. However, it has not been officially announced about this.

The government has sufficient stock of food grains for this. The stock position was also reviewed for this by the government. so far Rs 3.40 lakh crore hs been spent on this scheme by the government. In such a situation, ration card holder will be directly benefited by increasing this scheme.

Benefits under the scheme:Under this scheme of the central government, 5 kg ration per person is provided to all the poor ration card holder families of the country. Initially, under the scheme the family was given one kilogram of gram dal and a kit of essential spices. Earlier this scheme was only for ration card holder. Later, those poor families were also added to it, who did not have ration cards.
